Sion James has agreed to a four-year, $9.97 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets. James was the No. 33 pick in the draft out of Duke.
James averaged 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists as a fifth-year senior with the Blue Devils after transferring from Tulane.
Spencer Dinwiddie and the Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a one-year deal. Dinwiddie gives the Hornets veteran rotation depth in the backcourt, which is critical considering the injury history of LaMelo Ball.
Dinwiddie averaged 11.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 27.0 minutes last season with the Dallas Mavericks.
Tre Mann and the Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal. Mann was acquired by the Hornets from the Oklahoma City Thunder at the 2024 trade deadline as part of the Gordon Hayward deal.
In 13 games last season due to a back injury, Mann averaged 14.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 24.5 minutes.
Mann was the 18th overall pick by the Thunder in the 2021 draft out of Florida.
The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to trade Pat Connaughton and their own second round picks in 2031 and 2032 to the Charlotte Hornets for Vasilije Micic.
The Bucks had been looking for a trade of Connaughton for several months as his production severely dropped off.
Micic averaged 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 19.1 minutes across 41 games last season with the Hornets and the Phoenix Suns. The Suns exercised their $8.1 million option on Micic for the 2025-26 season in order to complete their trade with the Hornets for Mark Williams.
Mason Plumlee and the Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a one-year, $3.6 million deal.
Plumlee spent last season with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 4.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 assist in 17.6 minutes.
Plumlee played for the Hornets previously during the 2021-22 season and for part of the 2022-23 season.
Josh Okogie and the Charlotte Hornets have agreed to push back his $7.75 million non-guaranteed salary to July 15. The Phoenix Suns traded Okogie to the Hornets in January.
Okogie signed a two-year, $16 million contract with the Suns during the 2024 offseason.
Okogie appeared in 40 games combined with the Suns and Hornets last season, averaging 7.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.6 minutes.
The Charlotte Hornets have acquired Collin Sexton from the Utah Jazz for Jusuf Nurkic and a 2030 second round pick. The Jazz are attempting to balance out their roster after selecting Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr. at the draft.
The Jazz acquired Sexton in a sign-and-trade as part of their trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers involving Donovan Mitchell and Lauri Markkanen.
The Hornets could use Sexton as a replacement for Tre Mann, who is a restricted free agent. Sexton is on a $19 million expiring contract.
Nurkic is also on an expiring contract worth $19 million after he was acquired by the Hornets last season from the Phoenix Suns. The second round pick from the Hornets to the Jazz is the more favorable between the LA Clippers and the Jazz.
The Charlotte Hornets and Memphis Grizzlies are expressing interest in signing free agent guard Ty Jerome of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jerome is looking for a deal that will start around the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception amount of $14.1 million.
Jerome's future with the Cavs seemed sealed when Cleveland acquired Lonzo Ball for Isaac Okoro in a trade with the Chicago Bulls. The Cavaliers also agreed to re-sign guard Sam Merrill.
Charlotte is expected to have the full Non-Taxpayer MLE available this offseason, as they are operating well under the luxury tax. The situation in Memphis is less clear, as the Grizzlies are believed to be considering creating cap space to renegotiate-and-extend Jaren Jackson Jr. this offseason. If that happens, the Grizzlies will have access to the Room Exception, worth $8.8 million this summer.
Jerome, who is represented by Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller, averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists and a PER of 20.8 last season.
The Phoenix Suns have picked up the $8.1 million team option for guard Vasilije Micic. This move was necessary for Phoenix to complete the reported draft night draft for Mark Williams of the Charlotte Hornets.
Prior to the news of Micic being traded to the Hornets in the Williams deal, it was expected the Suns would decline the option. It's been reported that Micic has several offers from EuroLeague teams. It's unclear what the plans are now that Micic's contract is fully guaranteed and he's back with Charlotte.
The Phoenix Suns acquired the No. 31 overall pick and selected Rasheer Fleming out of Saint Joseph's to begin the second round of the 2025 NBA draft.
