Kevin Durant Trade Could Expand To League-Record Seven Teams

Jul 3, 2025 1:30 AM

The Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets are working to involve a league-record seven teams in the Kevin Durant trade, sources told Fred Katz of The Athletic.

The Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves would also get involved in the deal.

The details of the trade are currently being negotiated, with no deal imminent.

The framework involves the Hawks sending Clint Capela to the Rockets in a sign-and-trade. With Durant still headed to Houston, Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green would go to the Suns. Daeqwon Plowden is the only other active NBA player involved in the deal.

The rest of the players are from draft-night trades that were already agreed upon, which cannot be finalized until July 6.

Jake Fischer of The People's Insider adds that a six-team trade was being discussed during the second round of last week's draft. The Hawks adding Capela to the mix in a sign-and-trade would make it seven teams.

Nuggets Trade Michael Porter Jr., 2032 Unprotected Pick To Nets For Cam Johnson

Jun 30, 2025 7:08 PM

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to trade Michael Porter Jr. and an unprotected 2032 first round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson.

Porter and Johnson were each in trade rumors throughout the 2024-25 season.

Porter is signed through the 2026-27 season on his five-year, $179 million extension. Johnson is also signed through 2026-27 on a significantly lower cap number of $23 million next season compared to $38.3 million for Porter. Johnson signed a four-year, $94.5 million deal with the Nets in 2023.

With the trade, the Nuggets will create the ability to use most of their $14.1 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception. The move represents the first major transaction by Denver's new front office of Ben Tenzer and Jon Wallace, who replaced Calvin Booth.
